Rugby Union Six Nations 2025 Outright Betting Tips

The 2025 Six Nations kicks off on Friday, January 31 as France host Wales in Paris, so here’s our Rugby Union Six Nations 2025 Outright Betting Tips. Les Blues will look to make a strong start after they finished as runners-up to 2024 champions Ireland. Ged Corcoran’s side are eyeing three consecutive Six Nations title wins for the first time in history. Elsewhere, England will want to improve after failing to challenge since their last victory in 2020 and a decent Scotland side could pose an outside threat. Wales will also need to show massive improvements after finishing last in 2024. There are a lot of intriguing stories set to unfold in the 2025 Six Nations. You can watch the action across ITV and BBC this winter.

Form

Reigning champions Ireland followed their Six Nations success with four wins from their following six. Their only losses were to South Africa and New Zealand. But Ireland ended 2024 strongly with three wins over Argentina, Fiji and Australia. After a second place finish at the 2024 Six Nations, France beat Argentina and Uruguay, before suffering a shock loss to Argentina when the nations met again in July. However, like Ireland, Les Blues notched three wins against Japan, New Zealand and Argentina. England come into this year’s Six Nations lacking form and Steve Borthwick is under pressure as his side lost five of their final six games in 2024. Their only victory was a 59-14 triumph over Japan. Scotland improved after a fourth placed finish in the previous Six Nations as they won seven of their next eight, only losing to world number ones South Africa. Wales come into this tournament as the most out of form team, losing 12 matches in a row, while Italy will look to build on a fifth place finish last year, having won four of their last six internationals.

Tournament Winner Bet

It’s likely that the 2025 Six Nations will be a four-way race. Ireland and France are the favourites, while the bookies have given England and Scotland an outside chance. After a long winless run and finishing last in 2024, Wales will need a miracle to get back in contention, and SpreadEx have them at 80/1 to win. Italy, who have never finished higher than fourth in the Six Nations, are 250/1 to win at Boylesports. England have been pretty unconvincing recently and have lost four of their last eight Six Nations games. They have been given 9/2 odds of winning a first title since 2020 by 888Sport. Scotland are in better form and have elite players like Duhan van der Merwe and Darcy Graham piercing a talented attack. At 441/50 with Matchbook, Scotland may have a slim chance of winning their first Six Nations. Champions Ireland are favoured slightly less by the bookies, as Betfred have 2/1 for a third successive Irish triumph. However, Simon Easterby, in for usual coach Andy Farrell, has an ageing squad that showed glimpses of declining with autumn defeats to South Africa and New Zealand. We are backing France to disrupt Ireland’s Six Nations winning run this year. Les Blues boast the highest try scorers over 2024/25 in Louis Bielle-Biarrey, Damian Penaud and Gael Drean. They’ve finished runners-up in the last two Six Nations and last won in 2022, showcasing incredible consistency, which has seen them rise up to fourth in the world rankings. This could be France’s year to go one better and topple Ireland, and AKBets have 7/4 odds for a French win.

Six Nations Grand Slam Betting

While Ireland and France are set to dominate, it’s unlikely that they will complete a clean sweep of five wins from five and win the Six Nations Grand Slam. Only two Grand Slams have been completed in the past five tournaments. In addition, the 2024 edition was one of the most competitive in history, with 10 matches decided by just four points or less. Teams like England and a more consistent Scotland have potential to disrupt the two favourites this year, too. As a result, the best bet in the Grand Slam market is to pick a no winner. Coral have the best odds at evens, so this could be a decent pre-tournament bankroll builder.

Top Try Scorer Bets

Ultimately, in-form French duo Bielle-Biarrey and Damien Penaud are the outright favourites to finish the 2025 Six Nations with the most tries. However, Scot Darcy Graham is tipped as another player who could challenge. Graham scored nine tries for club and country across 2024/25 and the winger has scored 29 tries in 42 appearances for Scotland. The Edinburgh winger has 12/1 odds, offered by BetMGM to land the most tries this year. Penaud was the leading favourite to score the most tries, having won the accolade in 2022 and 2023 and after scoring 15 tries in 2024/25. However, the Frenchman has a toe injury ahead of the Wales opener, which has lowered his chances of scoring the most tries. Still, Penaud has 8/1 odds, with Star Sports, for finishing the Six Nations as the top try scorer. We are looking at Penaud’s teammate Bielle-Biarrey as an alternative. Bielle-Biarrey scored 16 tries in 2024 and 2025 and has scored 10 in just 14 internationals to-date. The 21-year-old up and comer is one of the best prospects in world rugby and could break onto the scene with a top try scorer award at the Six Nations. Bielle-Biarrey is our top pick in this market at 9/2, provided by Betway.
