Queen Alexandra Stakes (6:10 p.m)
The Royal Ascot weekend concludes with the longest race of the calendar, the two miles and six-furlong Queen Alexandra stakes. Out of the current field of 12 runners, four-year-old Wordsworth appears to be the leading favourite to win the Queen Alexandra stakes on Saturday. Wordsworth has previous experience over long distances, but the chestnut colt has not fared well in recent races, finishing fourth at the two-mile track at Ascot in April 2022. Yet, Bet365 are still offering decent odds of 7/2 for Wordsworth to win his first stakes race. Alternatively, bettors may find better value from one of the current outsiders. Eight-year-old Earlofthecotswolds has impressed over longer distances in 2022. The Black Gelding has won three of the five races he entered in the 2022 season, finishing first at the two-mile track at Kempton in March and then sealing victory over two and a half miles at Newcastle in April. With current odds of 22/1, provided by William Hill, represent excellent value to cap the Queen Alexandra Stakes on Saturday.
