Betway Free Bet, Promotions and Bonuses

Betway seems to be a mainstay of the UK betting world, having launched in 2006 and growing steadily since then, and now offers a very solid betting product. Since launching, they’ve gone from complete newcomers to now being able to compete with some of the best betting sites for UK punters.

Part of their success has been consistently bringing in new customers, and one thing currently helping is their brilliant Betway free bet offer for new customers. This welcome bonus is currently one of the better ones available for UK customers, purely down to how generous it is: bet £10 and get £40 in free bets.

Claiming this Betway free bet is a fairly simple process, and the terms and conditions are fairly friendly to us. First, though, you will have to create a new Betway betting account, which can be done by using the claim offer buttons in this review. When you complete the simple registration process, make sure you opt in to the correct offer, and you’ve completed the first stage. Once you have registered your new account, you have 7 days to make a first deposit of at least £10 with a debit card. Then place a single sports bet of at least £10 with minimum odds of Evens (2.0). If you would like to place an each-way bet, please note the minimum odds are 2/1 (3.0).

This is where the fun part of the Betway free bet offer starts, as once you have qualified, Betway will credit you with £40 in free bets. The free bets come in the form of 4x £10 free bet tokens, with 2 to be used on bet builder bets and 2 to be used on accumulator bets. The 2 bet builder free bets must have minimum odds of 3/1 (4.0) and have a minimum of 4 selections, whilst the accumulator free bets must have minimum odds of 3/1 (4.0) with at least 4 selections, with each selection having minimum odds of 3/10 (1.3).

The Betway Free Bet Terms and Conditions

New customers only. Place a minimum £10 pre-event bet at minimum odds of 2.0. £40 worth of Free Bet Tokens awarded on bet settlement. 4 x £10 each with betting restrictions. 7-day expiry. Debit Card deposits only (exclusions apply). 18+ GambleAware.org. Bet The Responsible Way. Full Terms apply.

What Makes This Free Bet So Good?

The first thing that stands out with the Betway free bet is how generous it is. As you only have to place a £10 bet to be rewarded with £40 in free bets, it is one of the standout offers for pure generosity for UK betting fans.  We also think the terms and conditions are friendly, which makes it easy to claim. For instance, the qualifying bet only has to be a £10 single bet with minimum odds of Evens (2.0), which would pretty much cover many people’s normal betting patterns anyway.

Obviously, it is generous, as you get £40 in free bets, but what we like is what you can use them on. Clearly, this won’t favour everyone, but Bet Builder bets have become a hugely popular bet over the last few years, and this gives you the chance to place 2 Bet Builder bets worth £10 each and gives you the chance to win some decent winnings. The same goes for the 2 accumulator free bets as well. You can build a strong accumulator with solid potential winnings just by placing 1 £10 qualifying bet.

What Bettors Would The Betway Free Bet Suit The Most?

We think this free bet offer is best for football bettors, and it’s pretty obvious that Betway has geared this welcome bonus toward football bettors. If you are the sort of person who likes to place a couple of football accumulator bets on the weekend, and then maybe place a Bet Builder bet on the live TV games, then this welcome offer will suit you right down to the ground. As you have 7 days to use the free bets, this gives you so many different options on which events you can bet on, so you could even use it for a couple of weekend football bets, and then save a free bet or 2 to keep an interest in the midweek football as well. How you use the free bets is up to you, but for us, if you are a football betting fan, this free bet could be one of the best welcome bonuses you can claim.

Betway Loyalty Offers, Promotions, and Bonuses

If you want to look further than the Betway free bet welcome bonus, you’ll be pleased to find out there are plenty more betting offers and promotions to keep loyal customers rewarded.

One of our favourite offers is their Free Bet Club. In fact, Betway was the first UK bookie to offer a free bet club, and since then many betting sites have realised it’s a valuable tool for keeping customers rewarded and coming back. You can opt in to their weekly free bet club, and if you place accumulator bets of the value of £25 or more in the qualifying weekly period, they will credit you with a £10 free bet to use the following week.

It is worth noting that these betting offers often change, so we’ll run through what was available at the time of writing this Betway review to give you a taste of what you could expect. We mentioned above how good the Betway welcome bonus is for football bettors, and they have some great promotions to back that up.

It’s a well-known joke amongst football bettors that you don’t put the early kick-off match in your Saturday accumulator, as it’s bound to lose and mess the rest of your day’s betting fun up. Betway have solved this problem with a brilliant offer: if you place an accumulator bet of at least 4 teams and you include the early kick-off, they’ll pay you out as a winner if the early kick-off lets your bet down. They also have the brilliant Super Sub offer where, on selected markets, if your player gets substituted, your bet rolls over to who they were subbed with.

Although we think that the welcome bonus is probably best for football bettors, Betway don’t hold back with their betting offers for horse racing bettors, and are one of the leading bookies for horse racing betting offers. For a start, they offer Best Odds Guaranteed on selected UK and Irish races from 9 am every day, and they also offer Extra Places each day on selected races. Probably one of the best offers they have for racing fans, and you’ll be pushed to find this with other bookies, is their horse racing accumulator free bet offer. Here, if you spend £20 or more on a horse racing accumulator bet with at least 4 selections, when it settles, they’ll credit you a £5 free bet the following day, and you can claim this every day.

Greyhound racing fans are also looked after with a Free Bet Club, and if you place at least 5 £20 bets on any greyhound races within the week (Monday to Sunday), Betway will credit you a £10 free bet the following week. Tennis betting fans aren’t left behind either. If you place any in-play tennis bets of at least £10 during the week and end up making a net loss on those, Betway will refund 10% of your losses the following week as a free bet up to £10. With Betway offering boosted odds on various sports and events throughout the week, they really do have something to offer everyone.

About Betway

Betway launched in 2006 and has grown significantly since then, becoming one of the leading UK online betting sites. They are now owned by the huge Super Group, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. They are a truly global company these days, with staff based in 17 different countries, with their head office in Malta, and further main offices in Cape Town, Guernsey, and London, which I was actually a guest at back in 2012, giving me a unique look behind the scenes of some of their betting operations.

Website Appearance and Interface

Over the years, like most online bookmakers, the Betway betting site has undergone many transformations and improvements. Now it offers a top-level betting site that stands out as clean, crisp, and user-friendly. It now has a light site with a light grey-and-white background and black-and-green text, making it easy to read and visually one of the better sites. It helps that, unlike some bookies, Betway have decided not to clutter its homepage and instead has a neat, easy-to-use site that is well organised.

You are immediately greeted with all the main sports listed down the right-hand side in alphabetical order, and above the main sports section, sports and events are listed by popularity, so you can find what you’re looking for quickly. Below that, Betway lists recommended bets that are popular at the time, such as Bet Builders and accumulator bets. Below are listed some of the day’s betting highlights, such as the biggest football matches of the day, followed by the next few horse races that are about to start. You can then scroll down to see many of the best betting events of the day, which really makes this site extremely easy to use and navigate.

To make the site even easier to navigate, they have a dedicated live in-play betting section, which you can click at the top of the screen to go to a dedicated portal. As you’d expect, it is just as well organised as the main betting pages, with each sport separated, plus ‘in-play’ and ‘upcoming’ sections so you can find what you want as quickly as possible.

Betting Markets and Odds at Betway

Betway hasn’t got it wrong in online betting, offering customers what they want, and when it comes to betting markets, they have made sure they have everything covered. When it comes to betting, football and horse racing are by far the most popular sports to bet on, and Betway have excelled when it comes to their offering for both sports.

When it comes to football, the amount of matches and events Betway offers betting markets on is absolutely wild, with markets offered on just about every game taking place around the world. OK, that might be a slight exaggeration, but to give you an idea of the sheer number of matches available, the day we 1st wrote this review, all the major leagues and cups were covered as you’d expect, but you could bet on matches from places such as Angola, the Dominican Republic, women’s football from Hungary, and even reserve team action from Argentina.

The more popular leagues have really deep betting markets on each match, with all the favourite bets covered, such as correct score, 1st goalscorer, both teams to score, total corners, etc. You would expect this, and it’s a sign of the best bookies just how deep these games go with betting markets. However, what was interesting was just how many markets were available for matches that many would call obscure leagues. For example, the day we wrote this review, we looked at a match in Kuwait, and not only could you bet on the match winner, but there were also odds offered on total goals, both teams to score, 1st team to score, correct score, 1st half winner, and draw no bet. So, as you can see, there is no shortage of football betting, even for people who want to bet on the most niche matches.

Interestingly, Betway also offer punters the chance to customise their own football bets by choosing which betting offer they want attached to the match they are betting on, with the odds adjusted accordingly. So, if you fancy placing a match winner bet, select matches, and we found many matches were selected; you have the choice of which betting offer you want attached to it. You can then choose enhanced odds, early payout if your team goes 1 up, early payout if your team goes 2 up, or 90-minute insurance. Each offer adjusts the odds, but it certainly gives you more bang for your buck, and to make it better, you can create accumulator bets with teams with these offers attached.

Horse racing fans will also find no shortage of races to bet on, as Betway provide betting markets on racing from across the globe. It goes without saying that Betway offer betting on all UK and Irish horse racing, but they also go much further. We’ve found them offering races to bet on from France, South Africa, Australia, the USA, Japan, New Zealand, and Argentina. You can enjoy race winner bets, as usual, but many races also allow Forecast and Tricast betting, with some races also having special bets such as a market without the favourite. Betway also provide an impressive number of Ante Post betting markets, so if you fancy a horse for a future race, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to take those better odds with Betway. A quick glimpse of the Ante Post betting horse racing markets on Oddschecker shows that although Betway aren’t offering as many markets as some of the other bookies, such as Bet365 and Paddy Power, they certainly are within the top 5 or 6 UK bookmakers with the number of markets offered.

You won’t be disappointed looking for other sports to bet on either, with all the other popular sports covered in great detail, such as tennis, golf, American football, and basketball. Tennis, for example, has some really deep betting markets on the biggest event matches. We looked at an in-play match at the US Open, and there was no shortage of betting markets. At the time, the match was into the 5th game of the 2nd set, and you could bet on who’d score points 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the 6th game of that set, as well as many other game and set bets.

Just about every sport you’d think has betting markets, going as niche as badminton, volleyball, and futsal, as well as political bets and special betting markets such as the winner of Strictly Come Dancing. You’d have to be looking for something extremely niche to not be able to place a bet on that event.

One thing that has become hugely popular in online betting is using the Bet Builder feature, and you’ll be pleased to know you can enjoy this with Betway. Here you can combine multiple bets on an event into one large bet. For example, on the day this Betway review was written, you could bet on Real Madrid to win, over 4.5 cards, under 2.5 goals in the Tottenham v Charlton match, and Burnley to qualify after their game against Bradford. This combines to make 1 interesting bet with odds of 123/10. You can enjoy this type of betting with many football matches, but to make their Bet Builder product even stronger, they also offer this for basketball and cricket betting.

Live Streaming at Betway

This feature has entered the world of online betting as technology has advanced, and it’s now a standard feature for many bookies. Betway hasn’t shied away from offering its customers live streams to watch. For starters, all UK and Irish horse racing is available to watch with Betway, as are many races from around the world; we found that about 70% of races outside the UK and Ireland could be watched on a live stream. There’s also plenty of greyhound racing to watch, with most events streamed live for customers

We did find some live streams for football matches, but this number was minimal, so it’s a stretch to say they offer live streams for football. Tennis, however, offers plenty of live streaming options depending on the tournament, and we also found streams for various basketball matches, table tennis, handball, and baseball games. Another nice bonus about this with Betway is that you only have to be logged in to watch the streams, whereas some other bookies require you to place a bet on the event to watch.

Mobile Betting with Betway

In the age of the smartphone, mobile betting, betting on a mobile phone or tablet, has become the most popular way to bet by a long way. This evolution has been growing for a good few years now, and with most people placing bets on a mobile device, online bookmakers have had to make sure their betting sites work just as well, if not better, on mobile.

The good news is that Betway is one of the bookies that understands it needs a great mobile betting product, and it has cut no corners with theirs. Because their traditional desktop website is so clean and tidy, it transfers easily to a mobile site and is just as easy to use on a mobile web browser. You could argue the mobile version is even easier to use because it has even less clutter; you don’t lose any user experience, and it’s a user-friendly mobile site.

Although mobile users can access the site through a mobile web browser, it can be even quicker to get there with 1 tap by downloading the mobile app. If you are using an Android or iOS device, simply head to the app store and download the app straight to your device.

Cash Out with Betway

The ability to cash out your bets took the betting world by storm when it first became a thing. These days it’s fairly standard for betting sites to offer customers the option to close their bets before the event has finished, allowing you to lock in some profit, or cut your losses before the bet is lost. Betway offers plenty of cash out options for many betting markets, and you’ll see the cash out icon on the event if cash out will be available on it. As it’s pretty much an industry standard these days, you’ll find it available for most of your bets, but it is only available on horse racing if you’ve placed an accumulator bet.

That said, one thing Betway falls short on with cash out compared to the best bookies is that they don’t offer partial cash out. This is where you can cash out a portion of your bet and leave the rest running. For many betting customers, partial cash out is a valuable tool, but unfortunately, Betway doesn’t currently offer it.

Licence, Security, and Customer Services

To operate legally in the UK, gambling companies need to be licensed by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC). They ensure companies follow a strict set of rules designed to protect players and ensure companies handle customers’ money responsibly. Betway, of course, are fully licensed to operate in the UK, and you can read about their licence here.

In addition to keeping customers safe with tools like deposit limits and time-out periods, they also protect your data and money with the latest security firewalls and protocols.

If you run into any problems using their site, you may find a solution in their help section, which includes numerous articles covering topics where players often run into trouble. Failing that, there is a live-chat function, which, rather frustratingly, tends to just repeat what the help section tells you, but you can get transferred to a human agent; this did take a while both times we tried it.
