Fulham v Newcastle FA Cup Betting Tips 27/01/24

FA Cup Betting

Fulham host Newcastle in this all-top-flight FA Cup fourth-round clash on Saturday, so as usual, it’s time for our Fulham v Newcastle FA Cup Betting Tips guide. The Cottagers face their second cup tie in three days following elimination from the EFL Cup. Marco Silva’s side are in inconsistent form too and will need to rely on home form to progress in the FA Cup. For Newcastle, this competition has provided some relief from a dismal recent showing in the Premier League. The Magpies face a tough test in West London, however. This match kicks off at 7 p.m. at Craven Cottage. It will be shown live on ITV.

Form and Team News

Fulham are winless in their last three in all competitions, losing two and drawing once. A 2-1 EFL Cup loss at Liverpool was followed by a Premier League defeat to West London rivals Chelsea (1-0). Marco Silva’s side produced a strong showing in a 1-1 cup draw with Liverpool in the second leg but were eliminated on aggregate. Newcastle’s only win in their last six in all competitions was a 3-0 FA Cup victory at Sunderland. This win provided a distraction from four straight league defeats, including a 3-2 loss at home to Man City last time out.

Looking at the team news, Fulham trio Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Fode Ballo-Toure are on international duty. Adama Traore is also out due to injury. Newcastle are without Sandro Tonali due to suspension. Joelinton, Nick Pope, Joe Willock, Elliot Anderson, Harvey Barnes, Matt Targett and Callum Wilson are also out.

Match Winner Betting Tips

Looking at the team form for Fulham vs Newcastle, there is one strong value pick worth backing. Firstly, the bookmakers don’t favour Fulham, which is surprising, given they have lost just once in their last six at Craven Cottage. In this run, Silva’s side have also held or beaten Liverpool (1-1) and Arsenal (2-1). At 2/1, provided by Bet365, there is some decent value on a Fulham home win. Instead, the bookies are backing Newcastle as the favourites, with Matchbook offering 27/20 odds. However, back the Toon with caution as they have one win in their last nine away and have lost six. Despite Newcastle’s recent woes, we are expecting a close-fought game, with a draw the best bet. Fulham can hold the top teams at Craven Cottage, and Newcastle need some positivity following their poor form. Injuries remain a concern for Eddie Howe’s side, and a cagey contest could unfold. Betfair currently has the best odds for an FA Cup stalemate at 13/5.

BTTS Betting

Even with an even clash anticipated, we are still expecting goals in West London. Fulham often strike on home soil and have scored at least once in six of their last seven in West London. But the Cottagers are leaky against the top sides, shipping goals against Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea in four of their last five. Newcastle’s defensive solidity has also deserted them recently. Howe’s outfit has conceded in eight of their last 10 and seen BTTS in three of their last four. BTTS seems a solid pick based on the scoring and conceding patterns of Fulham and Newcastle. There is also decent value in this market, with Betfred offering 8/13 odds.

Anytime Goal Scorer Bets

Chances are likely to come at both ends between Fulham and Newcastle, and there are some decent picks in the anytime scorer market. Generally, Fulham’s goals have been spread around the squad this season. But, one player to shine in recent home matches is Bobby Decordova-Reid. In his last three home matches, Decordova-Reid has scored twice, including the match winner against Rotherham in the previous round of the FA Cup. As the Jamaica international is picking up scoring form, he could be a good outsider pick for anytime scorer this weekend. BetUK has solid returns of 7/2 for a Decordova-Reid anytime goal against Newcastle. The standout player to back in the anytime goalscorer market though is Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. In his last four matches, Isak has scored five goals, providing a bright spark in Newcastle’s tricky patch. Three of his goals in this spell came on the road and 13/8 returns, offered by Boylesports, are a good pick for more Isak goals this weekend.
