Australian Open Tennis Betting Tips & Picks 2025

Novak Djokovic v Jiri Lehecka Australian Open Betting Tips

The Australian Open begins on January 11 and the biggest names in tennis will battle for the first Grand Slam of the season, so here’s our Australian Open Tennis Betting Tips. In 2024, Jannik Sinner stunned some of the big players and the 23-year-old won his first career major. The likes of Carlos Alcaraz and 11-time Australian Open winner Novak Djokovic will seek improved performances this time around after failing to reach the final last season. Can Sinner hold off the challengers and secure back-to-back titles at Melbourne Park? You can watch the Australian Open action live on Sky Sports between January 11 and January 26.

Form

Reigning champion Sinner comes into the 2025 Australian Open as the form player. The rising Italian star ended 2024 as world number one in the ATP rankings. He also followed his early season triumph at Melbourne Park with a US Open victory in September. Carlos Alcaraz will hope to improve on his 2024 Australian Open performance, where the Spanish player crashed out at the quarter-final stage. Alcaraz had a strong 2024 campaign elsewhere, winning Wimbledon and the Roland Garros and reaching the Olympic final. He hasn’t played since mid-November and a sustained rest period may work in the 21-year-old’s favour in Melbourne. Veteran Novak Djokovic is another potential contender at the Australian Open. The 37-year-old is still competing at the highest level, showcased by his Olympic gold in Paris last season and his run to the Wimbledon final in July. Djokovic ended 2024 with a 37-9 win record and will lean on his immense experience to challenge the younger players here.

To Reach the Final Betting

Interestingly, two of the big players, Alcaraz and Djokovic could meet in the quarter-final at the Australian Open. This could be the first big heavyweight clash at Melbourne Park and a win for either player could pave the way to the final. However, Alcaraz, ranked third in the world, beat Djokovic in the Wimbledon final last season. In addition, Djokovic fell short in the 2025 Brisbane International last week and was eliminated at the quarter-final stage by Reilly Opelka. Alcaraz currently has better odds to reach the final at 15/8, provided by Paddy Power. But the bookies haven’t ruled out Djokovic’s return to the Australian Open final this season, and Betfair have 3/1 odds for this outcome. Sinner has a somewhat more steady path to a second consecutive final at Melbourne Park. He is set to avoid Alcaraz and Djokovic until a potential final. The Italian may have to overcome top 10 player and home favourite Alex De Minaur and three-time finalist Danill Medvedev en route to the final. But with a record of 73 wins from 79 matches and eight ATP title wins last season, Sinner should be able to hold his nerve and set up a potentially huge final against Alcaraz or Djokovic. At 4/6 odds, provided by Paddy Power, there is decent value in backing Sinner to progress to the 2025 Australian Open final.

Men’s Winner Bet

There are some standout picks in the outright winner market. Despite being ranked second in the ATP standings, German player Alexander Zverev is considered an outsider at 11/1 by Unibet. He has never won a Grand Slam title, and a potentially challenging semi-final against Djokovic or Alcaraz has lowered his chances of success. Similarly, Medvedev has shown his recent ability to reach the Australian Open. However, the Russian has difficulty closing out the big matches. Since 2019, Medvedev has reached six Grand Slam finals and won just once – the US Open in 2021. As a result, the chances of Medvedev going all the way are slim, and BetMGM has 18/1 odds for the Russian to win. Ultimately, we feel it’s worth sticking with one of Djokovic, Alcaraz or Sinner to win the Australian Open. Djokovic’s setback in Brisbane and his failure to reach the final last year has impacted his chances. As a result, 888Sport has a Djokovic title win at 11/2. Alcaraz is perhaps a better value pick at 4/1, offered by SpreadEx. However, his difficulty going deep at Melbourne Park and some patchy end of season for last year could impact his performance. The stage is set for Sinner to keep winning and defend his Australian Open title in 2025. Sinner is on a 14-match winning streak and has the composure to see out another major final win. Our outright winner pick is to back Sinner to triumph in Melbourne, and Betfred has the best odds at 11/8.

Wildcard Bets

A couple of long shots are worth considering before the Australian Open begins on January 11. US player Taylor Fritz is backed at 30/1 to win in Melbourne by BetVictor. Fritz reached his first Grand Slam final in September at the US Open and won the United Cup earlier in January, so enters this competition in good form. Aussie player De Minaur will have the home backing, and he has reached three successive major quarter-finals. A De Minaur tournament win has 50/1 odds, offered by Ladbrokes.
