The UK’s biggest race of the year is back on Saturday as the Grand National takes place at Aintree Racecourse, so here’s our Aintree Grand National Horse Racing Betting Tips. 34 horses and jockeys will go head-to-head in one of the most watched jump races worldwide, and there are some exceptional picks from this year’s field. Get the latest odds and tips for the 2025 Grand National with our complete preview. The race will begin at 4 p.m. It will be shown live on ITV.

Form

The 2025 Grand National could be an extremely close run race, with several horses coming into the big event in strong form. I Am Maximus is dominating the pre-race discussions after winning the 2024 title. However, the Willie Mullins-trained runner has struggled in 2025. A recent foot injury and an eighth placed finish at Leopardstown in February leave some big question marks over I Am Maximus’ readiness for the Grand National. Another potential contender is Stumptown. The eight-year-old impressed at the Glenfarclas Cross Country at Cheltenham with a first-place finish. Consistency could be a concern for Stumptown, though, after pull-ups at the Irish National and the Ultima Chase. Iroko and Vanillier are additional entrants who could lead the Grand National field on Saturday. JP McManus owned Iroko has a strong history of hurdle racing, having won three of seven career entries. H M Keaveney’s Vanillier is another potential challenger after finishing second in the 2023 Grand National. The 10-year-old Grey Gelding has performed well in 2025 too, finishing third at the Cheltenham Cross Country and first at Punchestown in February.

Race Winner

Ultimately, there will be a lot of pressure on I Am Maximus to win a second consecutive Grand National in 2025. In addition to some inconsistent runs recently, I Am Maximus is carrying an extra six pounds than last year, and no winner has been this heavy and won since Golden Miller in 1934. Yet with Mullins targeting a historic fourth consecutive Grand National win as a trainer, I Am Maximus still has the potential to win on Saturday. Last Year’s winner is priced at 13/2 at Bet365 to win. Stumptown looks in good shape to challenge for a first Grand National title this year. A Cross Country Chase victory at the Cheltenham Festival showcased the Brown Gelding’s readiness to take on Aintree in 2025. G P Cromwell also trained the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Inothewayurthinkin, which bodes well for Stumptown performing at Aintree. At 9/1, offered by Ladbrokes, Stumptown is the 2nd favourite at the 2025 Grand National. However, we are looking slightly further down the odds table for our outright winner pick. Vanillier has a strong recent history in the Grand National, finishing as runner-up in 2023 and 14th last year. Good performances at Cheltenham and Punchestown in March and February show how comfortable Vanillier is over similar distances to the 4 miles, 2 ½ furlongs course at Aintree. Boylesports is offering 12/1 odds for a Vanillier triumph on Saturday, reflecting decent odds outside the leading favourites.

Each Way

If you favour an each-way bet for the Grand National, then another Willie Mullins-trained entrant, Minella Cocooner, is a decent pick. Minella Cocooner had some standout moments in 2024, finishing third in the Irish Grand National and winning the Gold Cup at Sandown — all within 26 days. Despite racing in three Grade 1 races in 2025 and failing to place, Minella Cocooner recovered in the Grade 3 Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse and came fourth here. A similar run in the Grand National could come on Saturday and Betfred have 14/1 odds for a Minella Cocooner win but will pay out each-way up to seven places. A strong contender outside of the well-known names is Nicky Henderson’s Hyland. The eight-year-old horse is incredibly consistent and won consecutive novice chase events at Cheltenham in October and November. Two second-place finishes at Kempton in December and February followed, displaying Hyland’s ability to mix it on any hurdle course. Backed by Henderson, who has 75 Cheltenham winners throughout his career, Hyland has every chance of placing at Aintree. With odds of 22/1, Matchbook have great value for Hyland to win the Grand National, and the bookmaker will pay out each-way up to six places.

The stage is set at Aintree for the 170th Grand National, and there are some outstanding horses available in the 34-strong pack. Can I Am Maximus emulate Tiger Roll’s feat from 2018 and 2019 and claim a consecutive title at Aintree? Or will another outsider cause an upset at Aintree?
